Spend “Some Enchanted Evening” at Hofstra this August

Hofstra Entertainment Presents Rodgers and Hammerstein’s "A Grand Night for Singing"

Weekends, August 19-27, 2011; Helene Fortunoff Theater

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY … Hofstra Entertainment presents Rodgers and Hammerstein’s A Grand Night for Singing, a musical revue of some of the most beloved songs in the history of Broadway, by one of the most famous songwriting teams of all time. Performances will take place over two weekends, August 19-28, 2011, at Hofstra’s Helene Fortunoff Theater.

This Tony Award-nominated show features songs from several lesser-known Rodgers and Hammerstein works such as Allegro, Me and Juliet, State Fair, and Pipe Dream, as well as selections from Flower Drum Song, Carousel, Oklahoma!, The King and I, South Pacific, Cinderella, and The Sound of Music. Audiences will recognize favorites like  “Hello Young Lovers,” “Honey Bun,” “Shall We Dance?,” “If I Loved You,” “I Have Dreamed,” “Some Enchanted Evening,” “It Might As Well Be Spring,” and “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’.”

Show times are 8 p.m. on Friday, August 19 and 26; 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 20 and 27; and 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 21. The Helene Fortunoff Theater is located at Monroe Lecture Center, off of California Avenue on Hofstra’s South Campus.

THE 2 P.M. PERFORMANCE ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 28, HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO IMPENDING WEATHER CONDITIONS. REFUNDS MAY BE OBTAINED BY CALLING THE HOFSTRA BOX OFFICE AT 516-463-6644.
