Hofstra Partners with Communications Firm MS&L’s “Generation Activation” Program
Comprehensive Digital Media Course For Public Relations Majors
Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY – Hofstra University has partnered with global communications firm MS&L to introduce their first ever online Public Relations course for the Fall 2009 semester. The comprehensive digital media course is offered as an Independent Study for Public Relations (PR) majors in Hofstra’s School of Communication, during their junior or senior year.
The Independent Study course gives students the opportunity to work directly with PR professionals in the field of Digital Marketing and Social Media communications. Through webinars, writing assignments and field research students will examine the field of digital marketing and social media as it relates to evolution of the media landscape and apply that knowledge to future business programs.
“Recently, Journalism schools have had some scrutiny for not keeping their curriculums up-to-date with digital media,” said Assistant Professor of Journalism, Media Studies, and Public Relations Victoria Geyer. “This partnership with MS&L gives our students this up-to-date knowledge of the media and also provides them with the opportunity for possible competitive internships, freelance positions, and access to digital media experts, professional mentoring, agency case studies, guest lectures and so much more.”
MS&L is a leading global communications firm and part of MS&L Worldwide, a network of communications brands and consultancies with 54 offices in North America, Latin America, EMEA and Asia, as well as an extensive affiliate network.
