Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY … Twenty-two students from Denmark will pay a visit to Hofstra University’s Hempstead, NY, campus on Tuesday, October 2, 2007, from noon to 2 p.m. as part of an annual exchange program between New York City’s Baccalaureate School for Global Education (BSGE) and Denmark’s International Business College (IBC). This exchange program is in its third year, and this is the first time Hofstra has been incorporated into the itinerary.

While at Hofstra, it is hoped that the foreign exchange students – whose education level approximates high school seniors here in the United States – will get a sense of what it is like to attend college at a suburban university in America. They will attend a lecture on the effects of globalization on America by Dr. Alan Singer, a professor of curriculum and teaching at Hofstra. This will be followed by a tour of Hofstra University.

Eighteen BSGE students were in Fredericia for two weeks this past summer. The IBC students arrived in New York on Saturday, September 29, and they will be here until Thursday, October 11. Other highlights of their visit to New York include excursions to Ellis Island, Wall Street, the Museum of the Moving Image and a visit to the Consulate General of Denmark. In between they will attend classes at BSGE.

For more information on the Danish students’ visit to Hofstra, please call Hofstra’s University Relations Office at (516) 463-6819 or 6818 or call Dr. Alan Singer at (516) 463-5853.
