Hofstra Celebrates Community and Global Outreach Month
Inter-Faith Food Drive, California Fire Relief, and Non-Profit Career FairHofstra University, Hempstead, NY – An Inter-Faith Food Drive, the California Fire Relief program, and a non-profit human services career fair mark the celebration of Community and Global Outreach Month, a month devoted to connecting the campus community with programs that reach out to others in service.
“We want to teach our students the meaning of humanity by developing opportunities for them to grow through service,” said Assistant Director of Student Leadership and Activities Kimberly Rhyan. “They really have committed, as always, to give of themselves to help others. They set the example for the Hofstra community to make a difference in November, as well as, every month of the year.”
Students can choose to participate in various programs including the California Fire Relief program on November 15 and 16, 2007 in San Diego. Students will be collecting donations from clubs and organizations on campus and presenting them to the Fire Relief program. Students can also participate in the first ever Inter-University Food Drive to benefit the Interfaith Nutrition Network, November 1 – 16, 2007 and have the opportunity to learn what a career in the non-profit industry entails at the Non-Profit Human Services Career Fair hosted by Hofstra’s Career Center on November 29, 2007 from 4 – 7 pm in the Student Center Multi-Purpose Room.
