"Parenting Resilient Children Through Difficult Economic Times" – A Breakfast Seminar Presented by Hofstra University's Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY … Hofstra University’s Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center is presenting “Parenting Resilient Children Through Difficult Economic Times,” a breakfast seminar, on Friday, December 4, 2009, at 8:15 a.m. The seminar will take place at the Hofstra University Club, located at David S. Mack Hall on the North Campus.

The keynote speaker for the event is Dr. Patricia Pitta, Ph.D., A.B.P.P., a diplomate in family psychology; an approved supervisor for the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy; president-elect for the Clinical Division, New York State Psychological Association. Dr. Pitta is also past president for the Academy of Family Psychology and past present for the Long Island Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. She is coordinator of continuing education and professional development at St. John’s University and is widely published in the fields of psychology, family therapy and parenting. Dr. Pitta’s private practice is located in Manhasset, New York, where she treats families and individuals.

Joseph Scardapane, Ph.D., assistant provost at Hofstra University and executive director of the Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center will present welcoming remarks. Dr. Scardapane is director of the Saltzman Center’s Psychological Evaluation Research and Counseling Clinic and has been a teacher, researcher and psychologist at Hofstra since 1991.

The morning’s emcees are Madeline Seifer, M.A., LMFT, director of the Saltzman Center’s Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic; and Donna Tudda, M.S., director of the Saltzman Center’s Diane Lindner-Goldberg Child Care Institute.
