24th Annual Sinterklaas Festival /Winter Wonderland Village
Monday, December 3, 2007, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Sondra and David S. Mack Student Center cafeteria, north campus

More than two dozen student groups collaborated to create a Winter Wonderland consisting of a series of holiday displays. The Winter Wonderland will be on display through Thursday, Dec. 6.

5 p.m. - Tree lighting ceremony and celebration and the arrival of Sinterklaas, one of Hofstra’s favorite Dutch traditions. Featuring many special guests and performances by the Pep Band, Drastic Measures, SigmA'cappella & Hofstra Gospel Ensemble.

7 p.m. - Sinterklaas After-Party, sponsored by the Student Government Association. A $3 donation will benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Student groups will provide holiday entertainment.

Student groups also raised money to pay for more than 100 children from the Hempstead Boys and Girls Club to visit the Winter Wonderland from Tuesday, December 4 to Thursday, December 6 and participate in hands-on-activities created by Hofstra students.

Special Chanukah refreshments will be served. The celebration will include special guests,
Chanukah music and the lighting of the first or eight menorah candles.

Kwanza Dinner: Why We Celebrate
Wednesday, December 5, 2007, 8-10:45 p.m.
Hofstra USA, North Campus

Join members of African People's Organization and the NAACP for their annual Kwanza celebration and lighting of the first of seven candles representing the seven principles of Kwanzaa: unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity and faith.
