Hofstra University is located in Hempstead, Long Island—25 miles east of New York City—and minutes from beautiful beaches, shopping and restaurants, and two international airports.
Being so close to New York City gives our students great opportunities for internships, experiential learning, and great social and educational resources. Visit the Met as part of an Art History class, or the NASDAQ as part of a business class. Go into the city on the weekend with friends and explore South Street Seaport or Brooklyn Heights or Soho. Each semester, hundreds of our students integrate their 3 credit internship at places like NBC, the New York Mets, Atlantic Records, KPMG or the UN into their academic schedule.
Our Explore Next Door program sponsors several free trips to New York City each semester that will make you feel like a native in no time. See Broadway shows, catch a baseball game, tour Central Park by bike or snack on fried dough at the annual Feast of San Gennaro in Little Italy. At Hofstra, students benefit from the traditional campus experience, as well as the adventure, cultural life and resources of an international metropolis.
Yet students live, work and play on the lush, green and spacious Hofstra campus, with ivy-covered academic buildings, great facilities and a nationally recognized arboretum. Each spring the campus awaits the flowering of thousands of tulips, a nod to our Dutch heritage, and each fall, groups visit the campus to tour the Hofstra University Museum’s outdoor sculpture collection. Students take advantage of being close to Jones Beach, Long Beach and the fabled East End of Long Island. Great shopping, hotels and restaurants are less than 10 minutes away in Garden City.
Come to campus, sit on one of the beautifully landscaped quads and study, then catch the campus shuttle to a Long Island Rail Road station and be in Manhattan in less than an hour. It’s all here at Hofstra.
