Our thoughts today are with the families and friends of the victims of the horrific shootings at Virginia Tech University, and with the entire university community affected by this tragedy.
Student Counseling Services can be reached at (516) 463-6791 for any student or parent who has concerns and is located in the Saltzman Community Center. Members of the division of student affairs and the Interfaith Center are also available to assist our community in the wake of this tragedy.
In times of crisis, such as this, it is important for us to come together as a community to share in our sorrow. Members of the Hofstra Community joined together on Tuesday, April 17th, for an evening candle light vigil and a collective moment of silence was held during Common Hour on Wednesday, April 18th.
The safety of our students, faculty and staff is our highest priority at Hofstra. We rely on our highly trained public safety department and their strong partnership with local law enforcement agencies to make our campus as safe as possible.
I want to assure all members of our community that we will continue to review our emergency procedures with our local police departments.
