Start and Expand a Business in a Challenging Economy

Free Information Session on September 19, 2012; Program Fee is $495

Hofstra University, Hempstead, New York – The Entrepreneurial Assistance Program (EAP) offered by Hofstra University's Scott Skodnek Business Development Center provides participants with the nuts-and-bolts skills required to operate and grow a successful business. Participants receive training and counseling that will help them  complete a business plan while attending the program.  A free information session about the program will be held September 19, 2012 at 6 p.m.

Since February 1991, the EAP has helped more than 1,100 entrepreneurs launch and expand their businesses through management training offered in workshops ranging from developing marketing strategies to creating financial management systems. The next 60-hour program will be offered from DavidDaniels.com October 8- December 12, 2012 on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for a fee of $495 (scholarships and installments available). The fee includes a manual and all materials. An Entrepreneurship Certificate is earned upon completion of requirements.

Participants will have the opportunity to compete in a Business Plan Competition sponsored by Capital One Bank with prizes totaling $5,000.  Participants must complete all program requirements and submit a complete business plan to be eligible to the competition. 

Information session attendees will have the opportunity to speak with Judith Tyne, program director, about the workshops and assistance available to start, maintain or expand a business.

The Scott Skodnek Business Development Center is a multidisciplinary center offering human and technological resources for business support and education, as well as community service. It also supports government agencies in their own endeavors and in their efforts to assist businesses in the metropolitan area.
