Hofstra’s 2010 New York State Council for the Social Studies Awards Winners
Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY – Four Hofstra affiliated educators have been honored by the New York State Council for Social Studies (NYSCSS), a professional association of teachers and supervisors at the elementary, secondary, college and university levels.
Hofstra affiliated award winners are:
• Kevin Sheehan, Distinguished Social Studies Educator Award
Hofstra doctoral student in Curriculum and Instruction, former social studies director at Oceanside School District
• Barbara Bernard, Continuing Social Studies Service Award
Hofstra field supervisor, formerly taught in Kings Park School District
• Dr. Jeffrey Morris, Outstanding Supervisor Award
K-12 Director of Social Studies Half Hollow Hills and Hofstra Adjunct Professor of Curriculum and Teaching
• Jennifer Bambino, Outstanding Middle School Social Studies Teacher
Hofstra graduate and cooperating teacher at Carle Place Middle School
The NYSCSS is a market-place of ideas, a forum and showcase for new materials, teaching methods, strategies, programs and personalities. Founded in 1938, the NYSCSS has been one of the largest and most active affiliates of the National Council for the Social Studies.
