Hofstra University Offers Classes to High School Students This SummerHofstra University, Hempstead, NY – Classroom lectures, study abroad programs and exclusive online courses are among the many summer course offerings at Hofstra beginning May 19, 2010.
Summer classes will be offered in three different sessions: May 19 through June 22, June 28 through July 30, and August 2 through August 20, 2010. Of the hundreds of courses being offered this summer, students can participate in any of the 13 study abroad programs offered through the Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; School of Education, Health and Human Services; and the Frank G. Zarb School of Business.
“Summer is the perfect time to try something new and challenging,” says Maria Fixell, assistant dean for study abroad. “Students have the opportunity to learn another language, immerse themselves in a new culture and meet exciting people, all while taking credits and satisfying major or minor requirements.”
Students and faculty will have the chance to turn the world into their classroom with destinations including Budapest, China, France, Ireland, Italy, Japan, London, Peru, and Spain. A fun and educational experience, living in another country fosters patience, changes attitudes, develops maturity and self-confidence, and enhances understanding of our complex world. A carefully chosen overseas study abroad program can contribute not only to academic and personal growth but to career goals as well.
