Spend an Evening – Or an Afternoon – With "The Last Night of Ballyhoo," the Tony Award-Winning Comedy, Presented by Hofstra Entertainment, July 16 to August 1, 2010

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY … Hofstra Entertainment presents Alfred Uhry’s  touching and bittersweet comedy, The Last Night of Ballyhoo, at Hofstra University’s Monroe Lecture Center Theater, located on the South Campus, off of California Avenue.  Performances are weekends, July 16 through August 1, 2010. This play is recommended for ages 13 and older.

Show times are 8 p.m. on Fridays (July 16, 23, 30), 8 p.m. on Saturdays (July 17, 24 and 31) and Sundays (July 18, 25 and August 1). Tickets are $25, $20 for senior citizens (over 65), $18 for matriculated non-Hofstra students with ID. Members of the Hofstra community  pay $15 upon presenting a current HofstraCard (two-ticket maximum).

Uhry, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Driving Miss Daisy, sets The Last Night of Ballyhoo in 1939 Atlanta, and the story follows an upper-class Jewish family coping with budding romances, the rumblings of World War II, the premiere of Gone With the Wind and, above all, Ballyhoo, the biggest social event of the year.  The Last Night of Ballyhoo was the winner of the Tony Award for Best Play. The Hofstra production is directed by Pamela Seiderman.
