Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY -After an extensive search that included international candidates Hofstra University has named Andrea Donley to the newly created position of Hofstra Museum Education and Information Services Coordinator for Hofstra University Museum.

Ms. Donley will work along with Beth Levinthal, Director of the Hofstra University Museum, to develop and implement a new era of museum educational and public outreach to students, faculty and staff of the University as well as the children, families and adults of the New York metropolitan region. She will also be responsible for developing docent programs for University students, family festivals, and other collaborative projects.

Ms. Donley has eight years experience in the museum field and has a Masters of Science degree in Leadership in Museum Education. In her previous position as Lead Educator at the Brooklyn Children's Museum, Ms. Donley oversaw the college interns program and managed community partnerships. She also created and implemented educational programs for families, schools and special events.

"Andrea's work with children to senior adults coupled with her strong skills in the area of collaboration and community outreach during her tenure at the Brooklyn Children's Museum have prepared her well to meet the evolving needs of the Hofstra University Museum's educational programs," said Museum Director Beth Levinthal.

Ms. Donley's past experiences also includes being Program Developer at the Children's Museum of the Arts, New York City . In this position, she created studio arts programs for after-school classes, summer camps, early childhood, school and community groups and families.

Before entering the museum field, Ms. Donley was in arts administration, as the studio manager for prominent commercial photographers.

"Andrea Donley stood out among other candidates for numerous reasons including her belief that exemplary teaching must be at the core of a museum's mission. She understands that through teaching art comes to life," said Mrs. Levinthal.

The Hofstra University Museum is accredited by the American Association of Museums and coordinates about 12 exhibitions annually. It also offers an extensive collection of outdoor sculpture, with more than 65 pieces.
