Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY ... Professor Cheryl Mwaria, co-director of the Hofstra in Ghana Program which is taking place this month will be interviewed on a local radio station at Kumasi, Ghana, on Thursday, January 14, 2010. Those interested may listen to the broadcast at 4 p.m. EST on the Web site www.ghanabeats.com.

Hofstra in Ghana is one of many study abroad opportunities offered by Hofstra University. The students and professors who are participating have been there since January 3 and will be returning on January 18, 2010.

Situated on the Atlantic coast of West Africa, Ghana is a country of vibrant cultures, historical monuments, and diverse ecosystems. Hofstra students in this program have the opportunity to explore the diverse landscapes and cultures of this modern nation and examine Ghana's effort to reconcile the various demands placed on its natural resources. They will journey to the traditional villages and modern cities to meet the people and explore the traditional animal sanctuaries, sacred groves and national parks.
