"Design Inspirations" – Through March 26, 2012
Through March 26, 2012; Featuring Student Design from the Fine Arts Department
Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY … Design Inspirations, an exhibition of student design from Professor Bez Ocko’s First Year Connections (FYC) class of the same name, runs through Monday, March 26, 2012, in the FORM Gallery, located on the ground floor of Calkins Hall, South Campus.The exhibition includes more than 100 works of student art from the years 2008, 2009 and 2011. Design Inspirations is a freshman-level course offered by the Department of Fine Arts and Art History. The class utilizes historical examples as a framework for creating new graphic works.
The exhibit includes large posters in the style of the Object Poster, monograms modeled after Vienna Workshop designs, music festival posters referencing Victorian wood type posters and personal identification designs inspired by a Paul Rand ad of the 1940s.
There will be an opening reception for the exhibition on Wednesday, March 7, during Common Hour (11:15 a.m.-12:40 p.m.). For more information call the Department of Fine Arts at 516-463-5474.
