Zarb School of Business to Co-Host Fourth Annual American Society for Quality Lean Six Sigma Symposium
Strategies to achieve successful business processes and quality improvements
Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY – The Frank G. Zarb School of Business Department of Information Technology and Quantitative Methods and The American Society for Quality, Long Island (ASQ-LI) Section, are co-sponsoring the fourth annual symposium on the business improvement methodologies of Lean and Six Sigma on March 19, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Hofstra USA, North Campus. Senate President Pro Tempore Malcolm A. Smith, majority leader of the New York State Senate, will deliver the luncheon keynote address. Many in the quality business are eager to take their various programs to the next level but are often challenged when looking for the most efficient and results-oriented path. While application of basic quality tools coupled with management commitment leads to some growth, a focused effort on understanding relationships between variables are required to realize greater gains.
Dean Salvatore F. Sodano notes, "Business improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma maximize shareholder value by determining the most effective improvement techniques in customer satisfaction, process speed, quality and cost. These tools provide management with a better understanding of the relationships that exist between process input, output and environmental variables."
The symposium will consist of a keynote address, panel discussions and success stories presented by quality professionals such as Master Black Belts, Black Belts and Green Belts on how they used Lean and Six Sigma strategies and tools to realize process improvements.
