"Sustainable Choices" features environmentally-friendly displays, including methods for washing clothes that conserve water, energy conservation efforts in the use of light and heat bulbs, eco-friendly ways to consume, and recycling methods.

The exhibit is sponsored by the Institute for the Development of Education in the Advanced Sciences (IDEAS), the Office of the Provost, the School of Education, Health and Human Services, Students for a Greener Hofstra, the Center for Civic Engagement, Student Affairs, Teacher/Leader Quality Partnerships (TLQP) and the National Center for Suburban Studies.

While the exhibition is at Hagedorn, the School of Education, Health and Human Services will host about 300 fourth-sixth graders from Barack Obama Elementary, Roosevelt Children’s Academy and Jackson Main Elementary schools, all of which are located in Hempstead, New York.  The buses transporting the students are funded by Hofstra’s TLQP, which is a program to improve the academic success of students by improving the quality of teaching at the Pre-K through fifth grade level.

Hofstra University is a dynamic private institution where students can choose from about 150 undergraduate and more than 160 graduate programs in liberal arts and sciences, business; engineering; communication; education, health and human services;  and honors studies, as well as a School of Law.
