Hofstra Alumnus Returns to Campus

Alan Colmes to Speak as part of 75th Anniversary Celebration

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY – Hofstra alumnus Alan Colmes, nationally syndicated radio host, television personality, political commentator and author, will return to campus on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 to speak to students about his broadcast and literary career as part of the university's 75th anniversary.

Colmes will speak at 7 p.m. in the Rochelle and Irwin A. Lowenfeld Conference and Exhibition Hall, Joan and Donald E. Axinn Library, 10th Floor, South Campus.  The event is sponsored by the School of Communication.

A 1971 graduate of Hofstra University, Colmes is perhaps best known for his 12 year run on the Fox News Channel program Hannity & Colmes, a political debate show where he served as the liberal counterpart to Sean Hannity.  Colmes currently hosts The Alan Colmes Show on Fox News Radio.  He is also the author of the 2003 book, "Red, White and Liberal: How Left is Right and Right is Wrong".

His journalism career began after graduating from Hofstra's communication program, where he was a member of WRHU, Hofstra's radio station.

This is part of a series of events in which Hofstra University alumni return to their alma mater to speak to students.  Admission to all events is free.  Earlier this month, the School of Communication sponsored a lecture by New York Times sports columnist and Hofstra alumnus George Vecsey.

Please be advised that this event will be recorded.
