During intermission cosponsoring student clubs will be showcasing their work as social artists. The Art of Activism, as the intermission is called, will be an opportunity for the audience to learn about the work being done by a variety of clubs and organizations, including the Progressive Students Union, Hofstra’s Center for Civic Engagement, the Hofstra University Museum, the Office of Multicultural and International Student Programs, Student Government Association, FONT, IMPACT, InTouch Arts, Danceworks, Students for a Greener Hofstra, Hofstra Concerts, Imani, and Women of Action.
Commenting on the inspiration for the concert, Michael LaFemina, a member of the Progressive Students Union and one of the co-organizers for Art of Healing, offered, “I once heard a professor comment that it is ‘the skill of an artist to be awake,’ and to that I would add, ‘but it is the role of the artist to awaken.”
