A Day for Haiti, A Night for Haiti

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY – A consortium of 17 academic and student organizations at Hofstra University are sponsoring a conference titled; “A Day for Haiti, A Night for Haiti,” on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. – 9 p.m. The day events will be held in Leo A. Guthart Cultural Center Theater, Axinn Library and the evening festivities will be held in the main dining room in the Mack Student Center.

“A Day for Haiti, A Night for Haiti,” is a full day examining relief and rebuilding efforts, media coverage, issues impacting children and education, the role of the United States and the post-earthquake experiences of Haitian-Americans.

The evening festivities will begin at 7 p.m. Students and community will celebrate the rich culture and heritage of Haiti, enjoy Haitian DJ Markensen, authentic Haitian food, live music, Haitian dance performances and the renowned Haitian Mass Choir, directed by Dickson Guillaume.
