FORM – Hofstra's Student-Run Art Club and Gallery – Presents "Superficial" by Christina Makrakis

April 26 to May 3, 2009

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY … The FORM student gallery located in Calkins Hall, South Campus, presents a senior art showcase titled Superficial by Christina Makrakis from April 26 to May 3, 2009.

Christina, 21, is a Hofstra senior from Mount Kisco, New York, and Superficial is a collection of her art, created since January 2009. Post graduation, Christina – who is majoring in fine arts – hopes to work with some New York City galleries or assist in other artists’ studios. She also plans to travel and perhaps pursue an M.F.A. in Fine Arts Education or Museum Studies.

Superficial is a collection of Christina’s multimedia drawings and paintings. The show reflects themes of self-discovery, untraditional beauty and the ability to overcome hardship. An opening reception for Superficial will be held on Wednesday, April 29, between 11:15 a.m. to 12:40 p.m.

For more information on shows in Hofstra's student run gallery call the Department of Fine Arts at (516) 463-5474.
