Hofstra University Goes Green
Hofstra hosts a number of green activities in honor of Earth Day
Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY – Hofstra University celebrates Earth Day with a day of “green” activities and events. On Wednesday, April 25, 2007 Hofstra University’s Environmental Priorities Committee (EPC) will kick off the day’s activities with a cleanup of Hofstra’s bird sanctuary, located on the north side of campus behind the University Club, starting at 11:15 a.m.
Following the bird sanctuary clean up there will be a “Green Buffet and Fair” located in the Student Center Greenhouse from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. This event is a great opportunity for students to familiarize themselves with the environmental problems that they face locally and globally as well as learn about the university’s attempts to be environmentally friendly all the while enjoying some free vegetarian food.
The final event of the day will be a screening of the Oscar winning film, “An Inconvenient Truth” along with free pizza from 4 – 6 p.m. in the Cultural Center Theater. Following the screening there will be a presentation by Professor Christa Farmer to discuss the concepts of the movie and the future state of the environment. According to Roger Ebert, “You owe it to yourself to see this film.”
