Hofstra's Student Leadership Awards Celebrates 25 Years with New Ceremony

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY – This year marked the 25th year that Hofstra has recognized its’ students at the annual Student Leadership Awards. The Awards were established to honor those student clubs and individuals who exemplify leadership within the Hofstra community.

The Division of Student Affairs, which hosts the special awards banquet, and some Student Government Association members were inspired and challenged this year to re-structure the awards banquet. After 10 months of meetings, brainstorming sessions, and dedication the banquet was transformed into an elegant night of recognition for more than 45 student groups and individuals.

Recipients of the awards are nominated by fellow students, faculty, and administrators. More than 150 students and student clubs were nominated and a committee of Student Affairs administrators chose the recipients. The awards recognize outstanding students, student organizations, and members of the campus community who significantly contribute to the improvement of student life at Hofstra. The actions, dedication, compassion and resourcefulness of those distinguished students and organizations are not only commendable, but also are an inspiration to the Hofstra Community.

“The leaders who are honored at this event are the true embodiment of “Hofstra Pride’,” said Assistant Director for Student Leadership and Activities Kim Rhyan.
