"Unforgotten Italy" - Hofstra Creative Writing Professor Martha McPhee "Reclaims Her Italian" in More Magazine
Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY … Associate Professor of English in Hofstra’s Creative Writing Program Martha McPhee, was featured in the May issue of More magazine. Her article, “Unforgotten Italy,” is about her recent visit to Italy, a country she fell in love with as a teenage exchange student.
She writes about how her re-immersion in Italian culture and language helped her better understand and appreciate the girl she once was and the path her life has since followed. “Unforgotten Italy” is currently posted on the More magazine Web site at http://www.more.com/2058/3931.
Martha McPhee is the author of the novels Bright Angel Time, Gorgeous Lies and L’America. She is the recipient of grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Guggenheim Foundation. In 2002 she was nominated for a National Book Award.
Professor McPhee has recently completed her fourth novel, Dear Money, which will be published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in the spring of 2010.
Hofstra University’s English Department and Creative Writing Program offers both undergraduate and graduate students a wealth of opportunities for the study of literature and creative writing. In addition to the undergraduate program in creative writing, the Master of Arts in English and Creative Writing program offers a wide range of workshops and independent study options in poetry, long and short fiction, playwriting and the essay form, and the faculty who teach in the Master of Arts are artists who represent the major literary genres.
