Hofstra Entertainment Presents James Barbour: Broadway in Concert

Hofstra Alum and Star of Broadway’s A Tale of Two Cities, Carousel, Jane Eyre,
Beauty and the Beast, Urinetown, Assassins and Cyrano The Musical
Returns to His Alma Mater for a Benefit Concert, June 27, 2009

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY … Broadway star James Barbour, Hofstra class of 1988, will return to his alma mater on June 27, 2009, at 8 p.m. to perform a benefit concert at the John Cranford Adams Playhouse. All net proceeds from James Barbour: Broadway in Concert will benefit Hofstra graduate scholarships.

Barbour has starred on Broadway in A Tale of Two Cities (Sydney Carton – Outer Critics Circle, Drama League and Drama Desk nominations for Best Actor), Carousel (Billy Bigelow), Jane Eyre (Rochester, Drama League Award Nomination), Beauty and The Beast (Beast), Urinetown (Lockstock), Assassins (Czolgosz), and Cyrano The Musical.

In his performance at Hofstra Barbour will bring new life to some of Broadway’s beloved classic songs. His rich, powerful baritone voice has been described by critics as sublime, breathtaking, ravishing and thrilling. He will be accompanied by pianist Michael Levine.

Tickets for James Barbour: Broadway in Concert are $50, $40 senior citizen (over 65) and $20 students with ID. $75 premium seating tickets are also available, including an autographed CD and admission to a post-concert reception with James Barbour at Spumante restaurant.

In addition to his Broadway credits, Barbour was part of the original national tour of The Secret Garden and starred as Lancelot in Camelot opposite Jeremy Irons (Hollywood Bowl) and Michael York (National Tour). His television and film credits include Alchemy, Adam Sandler’s Eight Crazy Nights, Ed, Sex in the City, Just Shoot Me, The District, That’s Life, The Game, and The American Experience: John and Abigail Adams.
