George Stephanopoulos to Speak at Hofstra

Journalist, former Clinton advisor to speak on "Election 2008: Behind The Scenes"

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY –ABC News Chief Washington Correspondent and anchor of “This Week”, George Stephanopoulos, will speak at Hofstra University on Monday September 15, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the John Cranford Adams Playhouse, South Campus. The lecture is sponsored by The President’s Educate ’08 Event Series, the Peter S. Kalikow Center for the Study of the American Presidency, and The John D. Miller Fund at the Long Island Community Foundation.

As chief Washington correspondent, Mr. Stephanopoulos oversees the network’s coverage of Congress and reports on political and policy stories for all ABC News platforms, including World News Tonight, Nightline, Good Morning America, and ABC News’ digital properties, including ABC News Now and ABCNews.com.

Mr. Stephanopoulos has interviewed every key member of the Bush administration, including President Bush, Vice President Cheney, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. He has also interviewed numerous foreign leaders, including former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi, U.N..Secretary-General Kofi Annan and King Abdullah II of Jordan.

Prior to joining ABC News, Mr. Stephanopoulos served in the administration of President Bill Clinton as the senior advisor to the president for policy and strategy. He is the author of “All Too Human,” a No. 1 New York Times best seller on President Clinton’s first term and the 1992 and 1996 Clinton/Gore campaigns.
