International Photojournalist to Visit Middle East Studies Class at Hofstra

Karin Ben Khelifa will present slideshow of his time among the Taliban in Afghanistan

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY – International photographer Karim Ben Khelifa, who has shot for The New York Times, The Washington Post, Stern Magazine (Germany), LeMonde (France), The Guardian (Great Britain) and other publications, will speak to Prof. Daniel Varisco’s Middle East Studies class on Tuesday, Sept. 18 from 9:35-11 a.m. in the Guthart Cultural Center Theater, Joan and Donald E. Axinn Library, south campus.

Mr. Ben Khelifa has covered the continuing conflicts and resulting refugee crises in Iraq, Afghanistan and Israel/Palestine; Muslim communities in Europe; globalization protests in Seattle; and the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City. He will present a slide show of his most recent photographic journey with the Taliban in Afghanistan.
