Hofstra Celebrates Homecoming Weekend "Myths And Legends" – October 9 To 11, 2009

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY: Come to the Hofstra University campus to enjoy the spirit and all the events of Homecoming Weekend, October 9 to 11, 2009. The theme of this year’s Homecoming festivities is “Myths and Legends.” All events are open to the public – alumni and non-Hofstra alumni.

HOMECOMING SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10

10:30 a.m. Family Fun Day and Alumni Brunch
Alumni Pride Tent, adjacent to James M. Shuart Stadium. Fun and games for children, including face painting, pictures with Kate and Willie, the Hofstra Bounce House and more.

11 a.m. Homecoming Parade of Floats
Begins on Hofstra’s North Campus
Show your Hofstra pride and enjoy the parade of floats celebrating this year’s theme, “Myths and Legends.”

12:30 p.m. Pregame Show; 1 p.m. Football Game
James M. Shuart Stadium
Cheer on the Pride at this year’s Homecoming football game vs. University of Maine. Stay for half-time to watch the annual crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen. For more information or tickets call (516) 463-TIXX (8499).

4 p.m. Post-Game Party
Alumni Pride Tent, adjacent to James M. Shuart Stadium. Enjoy free food, music and refreshments! New York’s FRESH 102.7 will provide music and giveaways.

There is a special “Touchdown Package” available that includes the alumni brunch, one ticket to the football game and a Hofstra souvenir. Advance registration (on or prior to Friday, October 2) is $20 per person, children under 12 are admitted free. Admission is $30 per person on Homecoming Day.

Hofstra Hillel invites you to enjoy Shabbat dinner at 6:45 p.m. at the Greenhouse, Mack Student Center North Campus. Fee is $18 per person (Free for Hofstra students and children under 10 years of age). 10 a.m. Hofstra Alumni Organization Book Club, featuring a discussion about The True Story of Hansel and Gretel by Louise Murphy.

1 p.m. Alumni Current Events Discussion Group Led by Professor Emeritus Herb Rosenbaum

7 p.m. Stars on Sunday – “What’s in the Sky Tonight?”

Dr. Donald Lubowich, coordinator of astronomy outreach at Hofstra, will present a lecture followed by an evening of sky gazing through telescopes from the Hofstra Observatory on the roof of Berliner Hall.
