HOFSTRA UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC ANNOUNCES FALL 2007 CONCERT SCHEDULE
Unless otherwise noted, call the Hofstra Box Office at (516) 463-6644 for tickets. Box Office hours are Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
October 5: Third Annual Benefit Concert. A varied program featuring the faculty of the Department of Music. The proceeds from this concert will go to the Uniondale, N.Y., School District. 8 p.m. at Monroe Lecture Center Theater. $15 general admission, $12 senior citizen (over 65) and student with ID. Tickets go on sale beginning September 18.
October 21: American Chamber Ensemble. Directed by Blanche Abram, piano, and Naomi Drucker, clarinet, with Chris Finckel, violoncello, Marilyn Sherman Lehman, piano, Lois Martin, viola, and Eriko Sato, violin. 3 p.m. at Monroe Lecture Center Theater. Tickets are $15 general admission, $12 senior citizen (over 65) and non-Hofstra student with ID. One free ticket with current HofstraCard. Tickets go on sale beginning October 2.
November 4: Hofstra String Quartet. Alexander Sharpe, violin, Matthew Lehmann, violin, Todd Lowe, viola, and Benjamin Wolff, violoncello. A program of string quartets by Haydn, Tippett, and Dvořák. 3 p.m. at Monroe Lecture Center Theater. Tickets are $15 general admission, $12 senior citizen (over 65) and non-Hofstra student with ID. One free ticket with current HofstraCard. Tickets go on sale beginning October 16.
November 10: Hofstra Chamber Singers. David Fryling, director. A program of selected works for a cappella choir. 8 p.m. at Christ Church, 61 East Main Street, Oyster Bay, N.Y. $10 general admission, $8 senior citizen (over 65) and non-Hofstra student with ID. One free ticket with current HofstraCard. Tickets go on sale beginning October 23.
November 11: Hofstra Opera Theater. Patricia Heuermann, artistic director. David Ramael, musical director. A program of scenes selected from a variety of operas. 3 p.m. at Monroe Lecture Center Theater. $10 general admission, $8 senior citizen (over 65) and non-Hofstra student with ID. One free ticket with current HofstraCard. Tickets go on sale beginning October 23.
November 17: Hofstra Collegium Musicum. William E. Hettrick, director. "The Voice upon the Waters."A program of early music with an aquatic theme. 8 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 182 First Street, Mineola, N.Y. (Just east of Mineola Blvd., two streets north of the LIRR tracks; parking garage across the street.). $10 general admission, $8 senior citizen (over 65) and non-Hofstra student with ID. One free ticket with current HofstraCard. Tickets go on sale beginning October 30.
November 18: Hofstra Jazz Ensemble. David Lalama, director. "Words and Music: A Jazz Portrait." The annual Peter B. Clark Memorial Scholarship Fund concert, with guest artist Ernie Byrd, jazz singer. 7 p.m. at
Monroe Lecture Center Theater. $10 general admission, $8 senior citizen (over 65) and non-Hofstra student with ID. One free ticket with current HofstraCard. Tickets go on sale beginning October 30.
December 1 and 2: Hofstra Chorale and Orchestra. David Fryling and David Ramael, directors.
