Hofstra University Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic At the Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center Now Forming Fall 2008 Groups

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY … The Hofstra University Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic at the Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center is now forming group sessions for Fall 2008.

The fee to participate is $15 per individual, couple or family. For registration information please call

Mondays

Chronic Illness Spousal Support Group: 11 a.m. to noon.
This weekly therapy group is designed for spouses of individuals with chronic illness.

Effective Parenting and Discipline: 1 to 2 p.m.
This weekly therapy group focuses on parenting skills and discipline.

Support Group for People with Amputations: 7 to 8:30 p.m.
This weekly support group is geared towards individuals who have amputations and their families. 

Effective Parenting and Discipline: 7 to 8:30 p.m.
This weekly psychoeducational group focuses on parenting skills.

Tuesdays

Caring for Caregivers: 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
A weekly psychoeducational group for men and women in caregiving roles. 

Couples/Intimacy Group: 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
A weekly psychoeducational group for couples that want to strengthen and develop their relationship.

Wednesdays

Divorce Support Group: 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A weekly psychoeducational group that focuses on the emotional process of divorce. 

Children of Divorce Group: 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A weekly group for children of divorce with groups for ages 8-12 and ages 13-18.

WTC Responders Spousal Support Group: noon to 1:30 p.m.
A weekly support group for spouses of 9/11 responders addressing the effects of chronic illness. November 5, 12, 19; December 3, 10, 17; January 7 and 14.

Thursdays

Girl Talk: Mother-Daughter Group: 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Mothers and daughters come together to build relationships and talk about issues in this weekly group.

Child and Adult Bereavement Groups: 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
This weekly group is run every six weeks and works on overcoming loss and grief. 

Saturdays

Women Empowerment Group: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
This weekly psychoeducational group focuses on empowering women and increasing self-esteem.

Divorced Men’s Group: 12:30 to 2 p.m.
This weekly support group aims at providing support and education to divorced men.
