Hofstra's Departments of Drama and Dance and Music Jointly Present a Free Performance of Igor Stravinsky's "L'Histoire du Soldat" ("The Soldier's Tale")
Saturday, November 6, 2010, 8 p.m.; John Cranford Adams Playhouse
Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY … Hofstra University’s Departments of Drama and Dance and Music are presenting a free performance of Igor Stravinsky’s L’Histoire du Soldat (“The Soldier’s Tale”) on November 6, 2010, 8 p.m. at the John Cranford Adams Playhouse. The production is part of the University’s 75th anniversary celebration.
Featuring direction by David Henderson, musical direction by David Ramael, choreography by Caroline Copeland, and narration by Peter Sander (all members of Hofstra’s faculty), L’Histoire du Soldat is a parable written in the early 1900s about a soldier who trades his fiddle to the devil for a book that predicts the future of the economy. This Hofstra performance marks one of the first times that faculty and students in the drama, dance and music programs have collaborated on a single production.
Admission to this event is free.
For more information call the Department of Music at (516) 463-5490 or the Department of Drama and Dance at (516) 463-5444.
