Department of Fine Arts Presents Paper Rock 'N' Roll
An Exhibition at the Rosenberg Gallery, Calkins Hall; November 12 to December 9, 2008
Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY … Hofstra University’s Department of Fine Arts will present Paper Rock ‘N’ Roll, an exhibition of more than 50 original hand-printed, limited edition silkscreen posters, promoting and celebrating bands and concerts. The show opens Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at the Rosenberg Gallery, located at Calkins Hall, South Campus. The works are from the private collection of Hofstra Associate Professor of Fine Arts and exhibition curator Bez Ocko.Posters in the exhibit feature bands including Acid Mothers Temple, Beirut, The Hold Steady, Deerhunter, DJ Spooky, Fear Factory. Feist, Gomez, Mudhoney, Peeping Tom, Queens of the Stone Age, Spoon, The Stooges, Telecast, TV on the Radio, the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs and many more. More than a dozen top poster designers from the U.S. and Canada are represented including Aesthetic Apparatus, Anthony Dihle, Budai, Burlesque, El Jefe Design, Buy Burwell, The Decoder Ring, Invisible Creature, Jesse Ledoux, John Foster, LargeMammal, Mike King, Patent Pending, Seripop and Stereotype Design.
There will be an opening reception for the exhibition on Wednesday, November 12, at 11:15 a.m. Paper Rock ‘N’ Roll will be on display at the Rosenberg Gallery through December 9. Viewing hours are Monday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday 1 to 5:30 p.m.; Wednesday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 to 5:30 p.m.; and Friday 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
