Hofstra Law School Hosts Local Dimensions of Immigration: Challenges and Opportunities in Our Changing Communities
November 9, 2007
Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY … Recent trends and changes in immigration and immigrant communities as they affect local governments, businesses, schools, and individuals will be the focus of discussion at a two-day conference titled Local Dimensions of Immigration: Challenges and Opportunities in Our Changing Communities at Hofstra Law School on November 9, 2007. Hofstra Law School is presenting this event with Congdon, Flaherty, O’Callaghan, Reid, Donlon, Travis & Fishlinger and Wright Risk Management. Local Dimensions of Immigration: Challenges and Opportunities in Our Changing Communities will feature esteemed academics, community leaders, and public servants who are leading, and often opposing, voices trying to guide our local communities through the challenges and opportunities that recent trends in immigration present. The keynote speakers, Michael Cutler and Michael Wishnie, will offer competing visions of a way forward for local communities. Gleason, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE); Richard V. Guardino, Jr., former Supervisor of the Town of Hempstead; and Muzaffar A. Chishti, Director of the Migration Policy Institute.
