Legendary Broadcaster Dan Ingram to Speak at Hofstra
Personality Radio Past and Present
Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY – Hofstra University’s School of Communication and WRHU Radio Hofstra University welcome legendary broadcaster and Hofstra alum (’56) Dan Ingram to discuss, on a live broadcast with WRHU, Personality Radio Past and Present on November 14, 2007 at 7 p.m. in Dempster Hall, Studio A.Mr. Ingram will be the guest of honor on a panel of notable on-air radio personalities from New York and Long Island. Panelists include Quincy McCoy, Pat St. John, Bob Buchman, Holly Levis, Dan Taylor, Mark Simone and Hofstra Alum Ralph Tortora (‘78).
After graduating from Hofstra, Dan worked at radio stations in Long Island, Connecticut, Dallas and St. Louis. Dan was hired at WABC in 1961 and helped pioneer the Top 40 sound in New York. He remained with WABC until 1982 when it adapted its present talk format. Dan has also worked for WKTU and WCBS-FM. Off-air, Dan has devoted many years to working with AFTRA, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and has long been a commercial voice-over talent.
“Hofstra University and its School of Communication boast a long history of training and educating some of the finest on and off-air talent in the industry,” said Dean of Hofstra’s School of Communication Sybil DelGaudio. “We are committed to that tradition by having some of the most experienced faculty and broadcast professionals on both our teaching staff and at WRHU. It is an honor to host this tribute to one of the true pioneers in radio personality, our own Dan Ingram.”
WRHU has the largest radio news team on Long Island. Over 50 student reporters cover news on Long Island, in New York City, and all over the world. WRHU News has reported from Israel, England, and the 2006 Olympics in Italy.
