Hofstra University's Rosenberg Gallery Presents an Exhibition of Paintings by Eckhard Etzold
Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY … The Rosenberg Gallery at Hofstra University’s Calkins Hall is pleased to announce an art exhibition, featured paintings by Eckhard Etzold, through December 13, 2010. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information call Professor Dan Devine at (516) 463-5397 or the Fine Arts Department at (516) 463-5474. The gallery is ADA compliant, and all exhibitions are free and open to the public.
Mr. Etzold presents paintings that derive their layered imagery from museum dioramas, shop window displays and media. Mr. Etzold says, typically he bases his paintings on photographs he takes. He documents the objects and also, the visual “noise,” such as reflections on glass cases, wall labels and other telltale signs. He emphasizes these interventions involved in seeing, believing and image-making. His paintings stand as case histories addressing the construction of images.
Echard Etzold has exhibited for 10 years throughout the United States and Europe. He has been awarded the Pollock-Krasner Grant; the New York Foundation Grant; the Art Award of GKB Bank of Berlin; the Philip Morris Schloss Moritzburg Grant, Dresden; and Fellowships at Art Omi, NY; Kunst-Raum Sylt-Quelle, Sylt; the Fine Arts Workshop Center, Provincetown; and the Studio Program of P.S.I., New York City.
