Hofstra Student Groups Join Forces to Help Local Organization

Destination Runway Fashion Show Supports Hempstead Boys and Girls Club

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY – Hofstra University’s student groups will join forces on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at 8 p.m. at Hofstra USA, North Campus with the common goal of raising funds for the Hempstead Boys and Girls Club with a fashion show.

Destination Runway will unite a number of student groups and alumni for the first time. Typically sororities and fraternities, small organizations, larger organizations and minority organizations create and organize separate events to benefit community organizations or compete to raise the most money.

"Destination Runway does what no other event can do. It brings organizations together not to compete but to work together,” said Peter DiSilvio, club affairs chair for the Student Government Association. “We're very proud of being able to get so many different people from so many walks of life to sit down and work things out. If everything in life could work like this the world would be a much better place"

The participating student groups are 6th Element, African Latino Fraternity and Sorority Association (ALFSA), African People’s Organization (APO), Cultural Italian American Organization (CIAO), Danceworks, Hofstra International Students (H*INT), Hofstra Concerts, Hofstra’s Organization of Latin Americans (HOLA), Inter Fraternal Sorority Council (IFSC), Imani, Integrating Multicultural People and Coming Together (IMPACT), NAACP, Student Government Association, Sakhiyan and Strictly Steppin’.

There is a $5 entry fee for the event.
