Hofstra's Dance Program Continues Community Relationship with AHRC-Nassau

Informal Choreographic Showing Wednesday, December 9, Noon, Dempster 209

HofstraUniversity, Hempstead, NY – Hofstra University’s Dance and Dance Education Programs have been working with the Association for the Help of Retarded Children (AHRC) of Nassau County, which strives to make the lives of children and adults with mental disabilities more fulfilling.  Under the direction of Anita Feldman, Director of the Dance Education Program at Hofstra, dance and dance education majors have been volunteering their time, leading choreographic workshops for AHRC adults. This is the third semester that they have been improvising, choreographing, and learning from each other, one hour per week.

This semester’s choreographic workshops will culminate in an informal showing on Wednesday, December 9, 2009, in Dempster 209, as part of the Dance Program’s holiday party. There will also be a showing of dance faculty and professional choreographer Amy Marshall’s work, which developed as part of the course Dance Repertory. If you would like to attend, please contact Professor Feldman at (516) 463-7137 or Lasazf@hofstra.edu.
