Hofstra Student Wins Prestigious Radio Television Digital News Foundation Scholarship
Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY – A Hofstra University junior, John Santucci, has received a President’s Scholarship from The Radio Television Digital News Foundation (RTDNF). John is among two recipients of RTDNF’s highest honor. He is a journalism major and associate program director at WRHU, Radio Hofstra University.In addition to a $1,000 cash award, John will receive a complimentary Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) membership and an expense-paid trip to the annual conference and exhibition of the RTDNA, which will take place April 11-14, 2010, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
John has been the recipient of several journalistic awards this year. He placed first for non-deadline news reporting at the Press Club of Long Island Media Awards and placed third in the hard news category at the Hearst Association Awards. John was also part of the news team that accepted the Bill Leaf Memorial Award for best regularly scheduled local news program at the New York Associated Press Broadcasters Awards Gala.
John credits his success to his mentors and colleagues at WRHU saying he “couldn’t have done it without them.”
RTDNF provides training programs, seminars, scholarship support and research in areas of critical concern to electronic news professionals and their audience. The work of RTDNF is supported by contributions from foundations, corporations, members of RTDNA and other individuals.
