Thursday, August 29, 2013 is the start of Welcome Week for residential and commuting first-year and transfer students. For more information about the Welcome Week Program for STUDENTS, visit hofstra.edu/welcomeweek. Parents, please follow the Welcome Day Program below. Your residential student's move-in time is mailed to your student during the summer, in the room-assignment letter to your student's Hofstra Pride email account. Commuting students check in starting at noon.
When driving to campus to register for Welcome Week, please enter through the main gate to north campus (coming from Meadowbrook Parkway on Hempstead Turnpike west, make right at the third light, just before the second foot-bridge over Hempstead Turnpike). Then, follow the signs to the Welcome Week Check-In Tent on the Intramural Fields. After your residential student receives Welcome Week materials, and you your parent packet, you will drive to your student's residence hall. You may register for Hofstra Fall Festival - Family Weekend under the parent and family tent. Don't miss President's Welcome at 2:45 p.m.!
Both commuting and residential families are cordially invited to attend the parent and family program:

David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex
Join Hofstra University President Stuart Rabinowitz, Vice President for Student Affairs Sandra Johnson, and Vice President for Enrollment Management and Dean of Admission and Financial Aid Jessica Eads as they welcome new students and families to the Hofstra community. After the ceremony, please say goodbye to your student; he/she will continue with Welcome Week activities, August 29 - September 2. Students will be engaged in events and sessions throughout the Labor Day weekend. Parents who are unable to come to President's Welcome may follow the ceremony at President's Welcome Webcast.
Parent Reception and Mini-Orientation
Hofstra University Club, David S. Mack Hall, North Campus
Parents learn how to become engaged members of Hofstra's community. Sign up to volunteer for Hofstra Fall Festival - Family Weekend and learn about programs and services for Hofstra parents and families. A panel of Hofstra administrators provides an overview of various programs and services and answers questions. Parents of transfer students and parents who did not attend this summer’s parent orientation are especially encouraged to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
Note: Enjoy lunch at one of the many dining facilities on campus, including Mack Student Center Dining Room and Bits ‘n’ Bytes. A complete schedule for Hofstra's dining facilities is at www.hofstra.edu/dining. If you need a hotel room, you may consult our list of nearby hotels.
