Student Financial Services - made up of Financial Aid, the Bursar, and Registrar - assists students and their families with funding a Hofstra education, registering for classes, and other administrative processes.

Services

  • Financial Aid - Financial Aid is here to help you make the most of the funding options available to you.
  • Bursar/Student Accounts - The Office of the Bursar/Student Accounts is responsible for the billing, the processing of payments, refunds and the collections of receivables of all student accounts.
  • Registrar - The Office of the Registrar is responsible for registration, collecting grades and attendance data, and other academic processes.

Important Dates

  • Monday, January 1 - New Year's Day (Observed) - University Closed
  • Tuesday, January 2 - Classes Begin
    Last day to register or add a course online
  • Wednesday, January 3 - Department permission is required to add classes. Override form is required to register.
    Absolute last day to register or add a class.
    Last day to drop a course without receiving a "W" grade on transcript.
    Last day to file the Pass/D/D+/Fail form.
    Last day to file the Repeat Course form.
  • Monday, January 15 - Martin Luther King Day - University Closed
  • Tuesday, January 16 - Classes end for two-week session
  • Tuesday, January 23 - Classes end for three-week session
  • Two days before the last session in a January term class - Last day to withdraw from a course
  • Monday, January 29 - Classes Begin
  • Sunday, February 4 - Last day to register or add a class online
  • Monday, February 5 - Department permission required to add classes. Override required to register.
  • Monday, February 19 - Tuesday, February 20 - President's Break - No classes. University Closed 2/19.
  • Sunday, February 25 - Absolute last day to register or add a class.
    Last day to drop a course without receiving a "W" grade on transcript.
  • March 8 - Friday - Last day to file the Pass/D/D+/Fail form
  • March 17-23 - Sunday - Saturday - Spring Break – No Classes
  • March 18 - Monday - Mid-Semester Advisories Due
  • April 11 - Thursday - Last day to file the Repeat Course form
    Last day to withdraw from an individual course - for Undergraduate students.
  • May 8 - Wednesday Last day to completely withdraw for all courses - for Undergraduate students
  • May 9 & 10 - Thursday & Friday Snow/Study/Reading day for Undergraduate classes only. Graduate classes meet as normal.
  • May 10 - Friday Last day to withdraw from a course - for Graduate students.
  • May 12-18 - Sunday-Saturday - Final exams for all classes.
  • May 18 - Saturday - Semester ends.
  • May 19 - Sunday - Commencement

Office Services

Most common student requests can be completed online. The following transactions can be completed in the Hofstra portal:

  • Payments can be made online through the Hofstra Portal at my.hofstra.edu 24/7 via electronic check with no additional fee, or by credit card through a third-party contractor, PayPath/Heartland with a nonrefundable fee of 2.95% (minimum $3), of the amount charged
  • Course registration 
  • Review your semester charges
  • Accept your financial aid
  • Upload missing documents to process your financial aid

A hold preventing registration and other University Services is in place until the payment clears your bank unless payment is made via certified funds.

Students who need to pay with cash should email Bursar@hofstra.edu to schedule an appointment with a representative.
