University Tutorial Program
The University Tutorial Program (UTP) is a CRLA (College Reading and Learning Association) internationally certified unit of the Center for University Advisement that is designed to provide academic support services to Hofstra's undergraduate students. Individual and group tutoring services are available, and professional academic advisors are on-hand to provide additional guidance when necessary.
The University Tutorial Program strives to provide accessible and quality academic support- in both individual and group settings- to Hofstra undergraduate students seeking assistance with courses. Each member of the University Tutorial Program staff promotes this mission by exemplifying the values of integrity, commitment, and professionalism in their interactions with Hofstra students.
University Tutorial Program Services:
Department-Based Tutoring Programs
Several departments within the University provide their own tutorial services. We work with those departments to ensure that students receive tutorial support.
Individual, Group and Other Lab-Based Tutoring
UTP tutors are available in both individual and group tutoring formats for subject areas that do not have department-based tutoring programs. Group-based tutoring is ONLY available for the following courses: Chemistry/Physics/Astronomy, QM 1 & 122, and all Computer Science courses.
We offer Group Tutoring in:

Students who are interested in securing a tutor may schedule an appointment online through TutorTrac. Click here to learn how to use TutorTrac, UTP's new web-based scheduling system.
Students may request tutorial assistance in up to three courses for which they are currently registered. Students may schedule up to three 30 minute appointments per course, per week.
Tutorial services are first-come, first-served. Therefore, students are urged to schedule an appointment before they experience serious academic difficulty. Students cannot schedule tutoring appointments during the last three weeks of any semester.
Services to Other Programs
The University Tutorial Program works with other programs on campus to provide students with tutorial support. UTP tutors work with student athletes, NOAH students (New Opportunities at Hofstra), and students with disabilities.
