ADDING AND DROPPING PROCEDURES FOR SPRING 2017:

ADDING
Adding courses on the portal is not allowed after 2/5/17. 
Beginning 2/6/17: Course additions need to be processed in person with paperwork listed below and there is a fee. 

1) COURSE OVERRIDE FORM with the instructor’s signature and department stamp (even if the class appears open).

2) REGISTRATION (Add/Drop) FORM listing each class you wish to add.
Note:  The registration form must be signed by an advising dean only if you are on probation or you have an alternate PIN*

  *New first year students and some first semester transfer students will need an alternate PIN to add or drop classes.  You were given your PIN on your yellow copy of advising notes when you registered.  If you do not have your PIN, an advising dean can look it up for you.

 (Absolute last day to add a course with permission from instructor and department is 2/24/17)

DROPPING
“Dropping” a class in your portal is allowed through FEBRUARY 27, 2017 without a grade of “W” appearing on your transcript. **

Beginning FEBRUARY 28, 2017 and ending APRIL 14, 2017, (even though you can still use the portal) a “drop” is considered a WITHDRAWAL and a grade of “W” will be recorded on your transcript.

   ** Students on probation need an advising dean’s signature to drop/withdraw from a class.

It is in your best interest to meet with an advising dean before making schedule changes

How to Find Your Dean and Make an Appointment

Students may find their assigned advising dean by doing one of the following:

  • Reading the top of their degree audit
  • Looking on their portal - Go to Hofstra Online, click on Student Records, then click on View Student Information.
  • Calling the CUA office and asking, "Who is my advising dean?"

Please call or stop by your dean's office to schedule an appointment.  (Schedule well in advance of your registration date if you would like to plan your next semester!)

For the first two weeks of class (drop in only):
9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday
9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Friday

During the Fall/Spring semesters:
9:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Monday and Thursday
9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday

Drop-in hours are Monday-Thursday from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m., Mondays and Thursday 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m, and Fridays 3:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.

Offices close at 5:00 p.m M-F when classes are not in session.
