Stan Cherian - Director of Orientation / Associate Director for Student Leadership and Activities
Stan is a native of Philadelphia and now a proud Brooklynite. He received a bachelor's degree in political science and philosophy, and a master's in higher education administration from Temple University. Before coming to Hofstra, Stan worked at St. Joseph's University as the assistant director of student activities, and at Temple University's Student Activities Office as the assistant director. In 2001, Stan joined the staff of the Student Activities Office as the assistant director, where he was the adviser to the Student Government Association and Hofstra yearbook, Nexus. He was the director of Orientation and New Student Programs from 2006-09 and now has rejoined the Student Leadership and Activities office. Currently he oversees New Student Orientation, class programming and graduate student organizations.
Karl Koeppel - Assistant Director, Student Leadership and Activities
A native of upstate New York, Karl is thrilled to be joining the OSLA team at Hofstra. A graduate of Elmira College with a bachelors in Psychology and Social Work, Karl developed a passion for student engagement and involvement and chose to pursue a graduate degree at The University of Maine in Higher Education. Prior to coming to work at Hofstra, Karl has worked at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and The University of New England in student activities, residence life, multicultural affairs and orientation programs. In his position, Karl works with New Student Orientation Programs, clubs and organizations, and Spirit Support. Outside work, Karl loves to travel, attend any kind of live entertainment that he can and try new foods. Karl is excited to be helping new Hofstra students in the transition to collegiate life and help them succeed once they are on campus.
