Description: The Database Administrator's (DBA) primary function is to work as a member of the Enterprise Application team to design, configure, troubleshoot and maintain the University's Database environments and dependent applications. This position contributes to the efforts of safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the University’s infrastructure and information assets.

Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

• Manages all activities related to the operations and maintenance of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, Ellucian Banner. Including, but not limited to:
o Maintaining Ellucian Banner 8 and 9 software environments
o Apply Ellucian and SICAS patches/upgrades via Ellucian Solution Manager
o Account maintenance
o Database monitoring and tuning
o System backup/restore
o Data imports/exports/extracts
o Update disaster recovery documentation as needed.
• Forecasts hardware and software needs, and works with other information systems areas to develop policies and procedures and to resolve technical problems.
• Responsible for developing and implementing standards, procedures, and controls that ensure the security, integrity, availability, and reliability of all database environments. Including, but not limited to: Oracle, MySQL, MSSQL.
• Installs hotfixes, patches, and software upgrades in a timely manner.
• Works across teams and external groups to develop strategy, design solutions, and analyze business requirements to translate them into actionable technical requirements.
• Builds and maintains technical relationships within the organization and technology providers by facilitating technology discussions, and aligning solutions with requirements for vendor evaluations and PoCs
Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree required; engineering, computer science or a related field preferred.
• One or more industry leading certifications preferred.
• 5+ years in IT with relational database experience.
• 3+ years of experience implementing complex technology projects successfully through completion.
• Oracle database administration experience including Data Guard, RAC, RMAN, Gateways, wallets and OEM Cloud Control
• Experience administering Ellucian's Banner Information System or other student-facing core business systems or prior functional or technical experience in higher education highly desirable
• Experience tuning complex SQL and working with developers to optimize data access
• Linux/Unix operating system experience and strong bash (or other shell) programming skills
• Experience installing, configuring and tuning Apache Tomcat and WebLogic application servers
• Experience using PL/SQL, SQL Developer, Data Modeler, Apex and Groovy
• Experience installing, configuring and upgrading Oracle Rest Data Services
• Experience with AWS Cloud database systems a plus.
