Whether you want to develop your interpersonal or leadership skills, improve your technical proficiency, or focus on your health and wellness, Employee Development has programs for you. We offer 1/2 day workshops, 'power hour' programs, and lunch time learning opportunities that are designed to meet your learning style and schedule.

  • Campus Safety Training
    • When: December 11, 2018, 1:00 – 2:00 pm
    • What: Safety is everyone’s responsibility.  Learn how to prevent and address workplace incidents, including emergency preparedness, personal safety, active shooter preparedness and fire safety

  • NEW! Wellness Wednesday – Meditation
    • When: September 26, 2018, 12:00 – 1:00 pm
    • What: Join Merry McVey-Noble, Assistant Clinical Director, Student Counseling Services, as she leads us through a session of mindfulness meditation.  Engage in the present moment and let go of negative thoughts while being present with our breath.

  • Wellness Wednesday – Fitness Round Table
    • When: October 17, 2018, 1:00 – 2:00 pm
    • What: Get answers to your common questions related to fitness, exercise, motivation and more!  Led by Pat Montagano, Sr. Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Campus Recreation, and Donna Willenbrock, Director, Student Health Services, Associate Director of Student Health and Wellness Center, this one hour session will be packed with information and tips to keep you healthy and active.

  • Wellness Wednesday – Nutrition Round Table
    • When: November 7, 2018, 12:00 – 1:00 pm
    • What: We are exposed to so many different messages about what to eat that it can be difficult to navigate the different diets and nutrition advice.  Please join Donna Willenbrock, Director, Student Health Services, Associate Director of Student Health and Wellness Center and Pat Montagano, Sr. Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Campus Recreation, with your questions about food, diet and nutrition.

  • NEW! Wellness Wednesday – Achieving Balance
    • When: December 12, 2018, 1:00 – 2:00 pm
    • What: Feel as if your life is ‘out of balance’ with work and life responsibilities? Join us and explore what areas of your life deserve additional attention and create a plan to help you find your balance.

  • NEW! Fitness Fridays
    • When: One Friday per month for cardio equipment and one Friday per month for strength training equipment (see schedule when registering); All sessions run 12:05 – 12:55 pm.
    • What: Intimidated by all the state-of-the-art equipment at the Fitness Center? Ready to take your fitness training to the next level? Join Pat Montagano, Sr. Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Campus Recreation, and master both the cardio and strength training equipment available to us at the David S. Mack Fitness Center.

  • Technical Skills Development

    Computer literacy and proficiency is critical in an ever changing technical world. Hofstra offers employees the opportunity to enhance their skills in our commonly used Microsoft Office products through a series of online or in person trainings.

    • Microsoft’s IT Academy – Learn at your own pace with the convenience of online learning right from your computer. Microsoft’s IT Academy contains online training for all Microsoft products – including Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint and Outlook (Windows versions only). Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced user, you will find courses to fit your needs. Get started.
    • For those who prefer more personalized training, Employee Development offers workshops in Microsoft Excel during the spring semester. To view and register for upcoming training, please see our Calendar page.
