We'll meet from 1:00-2:00pm Wednesdays in the Faculty Support Center (located in McEwen Hall, room 215).

We'll supply refreshments and expert insight into the latest and greatest in educational technology. All you need to bring is your enthusiasm and experience as Hofstra faculty. Together, we'll explore ways to bring technology into your teaching and research.

Using Scalar to Create Rich-Media Texts

Scalar is a free, open-source, electronic publishing platform that can be used to create your own (text)book and teaching materials. It allows you to harness appropriate material already available online and create dynamic, media-rich (and cost-free) teaching materials for your students as well as the public. It’s also great for collaborating with colleagues. It’s developed by a university rather than a for-profit tech company. Vimala Pasupathi (Associate Dean and Associate Professor of English) will present. For more information about the Scalar project, see here.
