Description: The Student Health and Counseling Center is organized within the Division of Student Affairs and combines the resources of medical and mental health services in support of student health. Accessible short-term health care, health education, and psychological services assist in facilitating the mission of education through proactive efforts that help students realize their full potential. The Staff Psychologist will perform a range of activities servicing a diverse student community, including individual and group counseling, psychological assessment, and crisis consultation. Outreach programming and networking as well as providing clinical supervision and training to doctoral level trainees are also essential responsibilities of the position.

Characteristics Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Conducts intake assessments.
• Conducts individual and group counseling, triage intervention.
• Develops outreach programming.
• Provides clinical supervision.
• Coordinates didactic training seminars for psychology interns.
• Consults with faculty, staff, students, and families regarding counseling center services.
• Collaborates and consults with Division of Student Affairs partners, medical staff and other mental health providers.
• Maintains patient electronic health records in accordance with regulations i.e. (HIPPA) and policies.
• Contributes to the development of goal driven projects and departmental reports by effective student utilization data collection and management.
• Serves on University committees as needed.
• Provide services on some evenings and weekends to manage student emergencies and support University community events and programming.
• Other duties within the Division of Student Affairs as assigned.
Qualifications: Qualifications:
An earned doctorate degree in psychology from an APA accredited program and licensure or license eligibility as a psychologist in the state of New York are required. 3 to 5 years of licensed experience with a young adult population. Experience providing clinical services and initiating primary prevention and peer intervention programs in a fast-paced university setting is highly preferred. The ability to conceptualize and deliver services within a short-term cognitive-behavioral model. A commitment to multicultural competence and is highly motivated to outreach to a diverse student population. Ability to provide service on some evenings and weekends to manage student emergencies and support University community events and programming.
