Description: Hofstra University’s School of Health Professions and Human Services, Department of Health Professions, invites applications for an anticipated tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Master of Science in Athletic Training Program. Hofstra’s entry-level Master of Science in Athletic Training Program is part of our growing programs in the Department of Health Professions, which include professional preparation programs in Public Health, Health Administration, Sport Science, Health Informatics, Occupational Therapy, Exercise Science and Health Science. Hofstra University has granted undergraduate degrees in Athletic Training for over 25 years and is now transitioning to offer a new MS in Athletic Training Program. This faculty appointment begins on September 1, 2020.

The successful candidate will instruct graduate students in the MS in Athletic Training program and related undergraduate programs. The candidate will mentor and advise students and assist with the administration of the program through assessment of program outcomes and coordination of research/laboratory activity. Also, the candidate will maintain an active, collaborative research agenda, and actively participate in and contribute to Department and University committees and services.

Qualifications: Candidates for the Assistant or Associate Professor position must have a minimum of 3 years of clinical athletic training experience. Contemporary expertise in the field of athletic training is required; related expertise to the application of therapeutic interventions through the lifespan is favored. Demonstrated experience in athletic training teaching is required, and expertise in athletic training program administration is considered an asset. Preference will be given to candidates with an established record of teaching excellence, scholarly activity, mentoring students, and working with interdisciplinary groups.

Candidates should also possess the following:
• Certified Athletic Trainer (in good standing with the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers) with earned doctoral degree or doctoral degree in progress (PhD, EdD, DAT, DHS, or ScD preferred).
• Possession of current New York State licensure as an Athletic Trainer, or possession of other state athletic training credential with eligibility for New York State licensure, and in good standing with the state regulatory agency.
• Demonstrated teaching experience
• Demonstrated administrative experience related to athletic training practice.
• Demonstrated experience with advising and mentoring students.
• Demonstrated evidence of scholarship.
