Description: The foundation of our curriculum during the first two years is a hybrid case/problem-based learning program called PEARLS, an acronym for Patient-centered Explorations in Active Reasoning, Learning and Synthesis. PEARLS values learning as an explorative and reflective experience, allowing students to work in small groups, utilizing patient cases to learn the fundamental basic sciences and develop critical thinking skills.
The PEARLS Coordinator reports to the Director, Office of Curriculum Support.

The PEARLS Coordinator works with the Director, Office of Curriculum Support, Associate Dean for Case-Based Learning, Director(s) of PEARLS, Associate Deans for Medical Education, Curriculum Support staff, Assessment & Evaluation staff, course faculty, and PEARLS facilitators to coordinate the administration of the PEARLS Program, including planning, organizing, and evaluating program activities.

Characteristic duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Work closely with faculty, staff, and leadership to plan and implement the delivery and evaluation of the PEARLS and Clinical Learning programs and their activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the School of Medicine.
• Prepare and continuously update program materials, schedules, reports, and meeting materials/agendas, and coordinate all PEARLS and Clinical Learning sessions, materials, facilitator meetings, one-on-one facilitator-student meetings, and any other related sessions.
• Provide administrative support necessary to enable faculty to be successful, including coordinating faculty recruitment and onboarding, and helping with educational technology.
• Prepare and continuously track and update schedules, reports, meeting materials/agendas, and all other program materials.
• Provide administrative support for both assessment and evaluation processes and work with the assessment team to share student assessment and program/faculty evaluation data with the respective facilitators and program/course directors.
• Provide scheduling support for part-time faculty who are participating in additional areas of the curriculum.
• Recognize issues of concern as they arise and track and follow up on program needs in the short, medium and long term.
• Assist with the preparation of program evaluation surveys, review and digest program evaluation data, and make recommendations to improve the success of the program.
• Assist with projects (research or otherwise) related to the courses, as needed.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Must have above-average organizational skills and attention to detail. Must be customer-service oriented and possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to track multiple active elements of the program simultaneously. Must be able to work in a highly trafficked office environment. Must have extensive computing experience and demonstrate proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Must be able to provide own transportation to and from off-site meetings. Early morning, evening, and weekend work may be required during busy periods
