Description: Hofstra University’s Honors College is seeking an Associate Dean. The Associate Dean of Hofstra University’s Honors College (HUHC) reports directly to the Dean of the Honors College and will play a leadership role in all aspects of College administration including strategic planning, admissions, faculty recruitment, curriculum development, outcomes assessment and student advising. This administrative appointment may also include regular teaching responsibilities in HUHC’s first year course sequence called Culture and Expression or HUHC Seminars.

This is an onsite position; work for this role is performed on campus. The usual schedule for this position is Monday - Friday. This position is currently working 4 days on alternating weeks.

Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
• Oversees HUHC’s honors option program which allows students to tailor their honors work to fit their passions and interests.
• Reviews and approves changes in class schedules and participates in the approval process for per-capita
and independent study courses; providing oversight of the efficient development and implementation of the course schedule for undergraduate classes.
• Reviews and approves full- and part-time faculty load reports.
• Collaborates extensively with all members of the Dean’s Office and with administration, faculty, and staff on special projects and on ad hoc committees and task forces.
• Attends admissions events that occasionally occur on weekends, meets regularly with the Dean to review short-term and long-term projects, meets regularly with Dean’s Office administrators to review HUHC initiatives and projects.
• All other duties deemed necessary.

Qualifications: • PhD degree required.
• Tenured Hofstra tenured faculty preferred.
• Prior experience with program assessment and planning.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal and organizational skills, with an ability to work with diverse constituents with professionalism and diplomacy.
• Proven ability to exercise good judgment and discretion with sensitive and confidential information.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects under demanding deadlines.
• Knowledge of MSWord, Excel, Outlook, Blackboard, Banner preferred, as well as the ability to learn other computer programs as needed.
